When I run in the city, I don’t plan my route; I go wherever the light is green. This is to ensure no time is wasted waiting at corners for traffic lights to change, as I have to complete my distance and shower in time to teach my first ESL class of the day. It’s also so that I don’t lose momentum.
I do the same thing in the studio. As soon as I reach a point where I’m not sure what to do next with work-in-progress A, work-in-progress B over on the wall catches my eye and suddenly I know exactly what to do with that one. I run towards B; anything to keep moving.
